THE CORONA VIRUS EDITION

Okay folks I am back in the United States from Mexico. What happened while I was gone?!! I leave the country for you guys to mind for just one week! And just look what you’ve done with it! LOL, just kidding.


Although I have numerous more blogs to release that were written south of the border, I thought I would sneak one in regarding the coronavirus. Here in Dayton, we are all under quarantine. I, because I am a special child—doctor—get to work every day. But most of my community is stuck at home.


And what do you think that is doing to their anxiety? Yes, my phone has been ringing constantly. (We are calling and video chatting with most of our patients). People with well-controlled anxiety are starting to crack around the edges. People with fairly controlled anxiety are starting to lose it a little. You can only watch so many cat videos on YouTube.

And of course, there is the money issue. Where are my rent money, car payment, and any expenses coming from?


Remember when I told you that environment magnifies genetics?

Well, this environment, which none of us have ever seen before, is certainly magnifying our genetics. Not knowing when it will end makes the anxiety even worse. Most people do NOT like uncertainty!

So what are we to do? Here are some thoughts that I had to stay busy:


1) You could give your Jaguar XJ12 a complete detailing from bumper-to-bumper


2) Rearrange and organize your wine cellar—remember first growth French wines on the left and super Tuscan Italians on the right


3) Polish all of your Tiffany and Chiluli vases


What do you mean I am not being helpful?


Okay, JK. Here is the real list:


- Learn a new language and practice it with your family members


-Plan your next trip, so when you are allowed to travel again, to have the whole trip planned detail by detail


-Clean out that junk drawer and/or closet. Nothing makes you feel better then mindless reorganizing


-Stay fit at home. There are numerous apps for home workouts. Try Shreddy


-Start growing plants for your garden or patio from seeds


-Read a good book. Perhaps go back to some of the classics like Moby Dick. Or download my two novels from Amazon (Desperate Vines and Land’s End)


-Look at a map of the world and brush up on your geology


-Call your aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. that you haven’t spoke to for a while and catch up


-Start a journal


Okay, I stopped with nine items because most writers have to do their lists

in multiples of five. I call those people Cinco Locos. (See if you had learned Spanish during this time you would know what that means!)


Okay, we’re not going to have any cat or Chardonnay jokes today. This pandemic is just too serious. Remember to wash her hands, cough into your elbow, and stay healthy. Oh, and if you like these blogs, please share them with friends and family. This is Dr. G saying KEEP THE FAITH!
